Bengaluru Institute Exports 'Open-Source Aadhaar'

Six developing countries – Sri Lanka, Morocco, the Philippines, Guinea, Ethiopia and the Togolese Republic – are using an Aadhaar-like, open-source system to provide digital identities to their citizens. The platform was built by the International Institute of Information Technology, Bengaluru (IIIT-B), a non-profit headed by Infosys cofounder Kris Gopalakrishnan.

Indian Origin Doctor Wins US State Dept. 'Data for Diplomacy' Award for Her Work in COVID 19, Air Quality Projects

Dr. Molini Patel, with the department’s Bureau of Medical Services, won one of this year’s individual awards for her work using data to track COVID-19 infections among the department’s workforce and flagging hotspots that faced the greatest need for vaccines once they became available. The award also recognized Patel’s work tracking air quality data at 80 U.S. diplomatic posts around the world.
