Cookie Policy
This page says what eGov Review stores on your device, what it is for, and how to change your mind. It describes what the site actually does rather than what websites do in general.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It can hold a preference, a session, or an identifier that lets a service recognise the same browser on a later visit. Nothing in a cookie can read the rest of your computer.
Before you answer
When you first arrive, the site asks whether you agree to analytics, to story suggestions and to embedded videos from YouTube and Vimeo. Until you answer, nothing is stored on your device for any of them.
Our tag manager loads on every page, including for readers who have answered nothing and for readers who have refused. It loads holding no permission: before any tag runs, the site tells it that it may store nothing for analytics, nothing for advertising, and that advertising data is to be redacted. So the container is present and inert.

The story suggestions, "Remember topics I follow" and "Suggest stories from what I read", keep what they remember in your browser's storage, not in a cookie, and only after you turn them on. The privacy policy lists each item, what it holds and how long it is kept.
Changing your answer
Use the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page. Turning a service off takes effect on the next page you load. Your answer is kept on your own device and is not sent anywhere.
You can also clear or block cookies in your browser. If you clear ours, the site will ask you again on your next visit, because your answer was one of the things you cleared.
