Privacy Policy

The privacy of people who read eGov Review matters to us. This page sets out what we receive when you visit, what we do with it, and what we will never do. We do not sell your personal information to anybody.

What we collect

Server logs. Like most websites, our server records requests. A log line holds the address the request came from, the browser that made it, the page asked for and the time. We use this to keep the site running and to find faults.

Analytics, and what happens before you agree. We use Google Tag Manager. It loads on every page, including before you answer and if you refuse. Until you agree it holds no permission: it stores nothing on your device, sets no cookie, and cannot recognise you on a later visit.

It is not silent, though, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. Even with every permission denied, the tag sends Google a basic record that a page was viewed. That record carries no cookie and no identifier for you; Google uses it in aggregate. If you agree, the tags may then set cookies and report your visit in the ordinary way. If you refuse, that stays off and only the anonymous record continues.

What you send us. If you write to us through the contact form, we keep what you typed and your email address so that we can reply. We use it for that and nothing else.

What we do not do

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We do not carry third-party advertising. We do not build profiles of readers, and we do not attempt to identify you.

Your choices

The Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page lets you give or withdraw your agreement at any time. Withdrawing takes effect on the next page you load. Our cookie policy lists exactly what is stored.

If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it corrected or deleted, write to us through the contact form and we will deal with it.

Other people's sites

We link to other websites in the course of reporting. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under their policy, not ours.

Changes to this page

If we change what we collect, we change this page and the date at the foot of it. It is worth checking that date if you want to know whether anything has moved.
