BSNL to Launch 4G Network

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), India’s state telecom network provider, is set to launch India’s first locally developed 4G network for its users this year. The likely date for the launch is Independence Day, 15th August 2022.

At a point in time when all its competitors are setting the groundwork to roll out 5G, BSNL is trailing behind by launching a 4G connection this year.

BSNL will be introducing 4G services with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as its technology partner. It will be the first time that an Indian technology will be used for 4G services, and it will also mark the entry of TCS in the telecom equipment manufacturing business.

BSNL is building 100,000 telecom towers across the country to complete its 4G services outreach. The company is using monopoles that are more effective and less expensive. Out of these, 4,000 towers will be installed in Bihar, and the others will be distributed across major cities in the country.
