Ireland Opens Public Consultation on Digital Connectivity Strategy Draft

The Minister of State for the Environment, Climate, and Communications, Ossian Smyth TD, has opened a public consultation on a draft Digital Connectivity Strategy for Ireland. The draft strategy sets out the State's ambition for digital connectivity to be achieved by 2030.

The draft also sets out the key 'enablers' to ensure that these targets are met. The enablers include safeguarding international connectivity, delivering National Broadband plans, supporting new and innovative connectivity solutions, and implementing cybersecurity strategy.

The public consultation asks for stakeholders' views, from members of the public and industry, on the overall strategy and the proposed 'enablers.' Stakeholders are invited to submit their views via email by 31st March 2022.

The Digital Connectivity Strategy For Ireland directly supports the digital infrastructure dimension described in the recently launched 'Harnessing Digital – Digital Ireland Framework.' The Framework sets out a pathway to drive and enable the digital transition across the economy and society.
