The Scott Morrison led liberal government in Australia is launching the Digital Ready Assessment Tool1 to help businesses digitise their operations. It is a free online tool and allows firms to measure and upgrade their digital capability, compare themselves against their peers, and access government support programs.
This tool will ask questions about a business’s use of digital tools, channels, data and how they convey business decisions. The merchant will receive a report benchmarking the businesses’ digital readiness against other Australian companies and a list of action recommendations based on the answers to the questions asked by the tool.
The tool takes ten minutes to complete the survey. Businesses that meet the assessment will be directed to relevant products and services, including current grant opportunities like the Treasury’s Digital Solutions program, which allows streamlining payments and collections processes to resolve working capital challenges. They will also be offered support by services administered by the Government-funded NGO website, navii.com.au.
Ms Melissa Price, Minister for Science and Technology, said2 that the tool would considerably benefit many businesses and continue the government’s efforts to strengthen the digital economy. She also noted that COVID-19 has shown that Australian enterprises are digital-enabled, can adapt quickly, and are more resilient to change.
