Queensland to Have Digital License in 2023

A contract to deliver the Digital License App in Queensland Australia has now been signed with Thales Australia & New Zealand collaborating with Brisbane-based app development firm Code Heroes and Aliva. Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey has said that Thales Australia & New Zealand would finalize the development and delivery of the app that is to be rolled out across the state in 2023.

The announcement follows a successful app trial in the Fraser Coast in 2020. The trial was successful, with users reporting a 94% satisfaction rating during the testing. The next rollout stage would be the Digital License App trial in the Townsville region later this year.

Digital License App would comply with international standards allowing the citizens to use the app around Australia and internationally. The app is being upgraded based on the feedback it received from the Fraser Coast trial, and it will get additional features to ensure that the needs of the citizens are met. The app is an Australia-first innovative solution with data privacy as the primary focus.
